Launched in the year 2000, the Janshree Bima Yojana is a government-sponsored life insurance scheme that was unveiled by Life Insurance Corporation of India and the Central Government. The scheme aims to provide social security and financial assistance to urban and rural segments, mostly those who are below and slightly above the poverty line. This includes 45 different occupational groups such as beedi workers, fishermen, handloom weavers, and street vendors. The implementation of the scheme can be done by self-help groups, NGOs, panchayats, or other institutional agencies.

Janshree Bima Yojana: Features

Janshree Bima Yojana offers a range of features and advantages. The scheme offers special benefits for female self-help group members and supports their children's education. A unique feature is how members who belong to the female self-help group under the scheme are supported with their children's education by providing them up to ₹30,000 per year.
